Insomnia disorder is highly prevalent in COVID-19 inpatients. Insomnia disorder, defined by nocturnal and daytime symptoms, is highly prevalent worldwide and is associated with the onset of mental illness. Although daytime symptoms are often the reason insomnia patients seek help, it is not clear whether recommended treatment is effective on daytime symptoms. We aimed to investigate the efficacy of cognitive and behavior therapies for insomnia (CBT–I) on all daytime symptoms explored in the literature using both direct and indirect data.Insomnia disorder in COVID-19 inpatients was associated with increased odds of the female gender, younger age, higher fatigue and anxiety severity.

Insomnia is a common comorbidity symptom in patients with major depressive disorder (MDD). However, the brain functional alteration in MDD with higher level insomnia (MDD-HI) and lower level insomnia (MDD-LI) remains unclear. Here, we investigated the association of insomnia with global functional connectivity density (gFCD) in patients with MDD.Insomnia disorder increases Alzheimer’s disease risk; hyperarousal features of insomnia may contribute to this relationship.

Insomnia disorder is a prevalent sleep disorder, which affects about 10% of general population. However, its neural mechanisms are poorly understood. Recently, several structural and functional neuroimaging studies have been conducted in patients with insomnia disorder, but these studies have yielded diverse findings. Here, we aimed to identify consistent patterns of abnormal brain alterations in insomnia disorder by performing a quantitative coordinate-based meta-analysis.
